Raw Punk: More Bollocks, Vol. 1 - In the history of rock, no other incarnation has been so abrasive or made as much of an impact as Punk Rock. Rebelling against the music of the 70s, the fashion, and the social, economic, and political climate of England at the time, British punk bands such as the Sex Pistols, Clash, Stiff Little Fingers, Sham 69, and Bad Manners, expressed their frustration through their music, fashion (or lack of it), and through their attitudes. The main appeal in Punk Rock came in its "do it yourself" attitude and emphasis on individuality and selfexpression. Punk was simple, powerful music that had energy and made a statement. Punk was easily accessible, as were the musicians and fans. Nearly anybody could easily learn how to play the music. All you needed were three chords and the truth and you could start a band.

Here is another good DVD to check out: Iggy and the Stooges - Live in Detroit

Iggy & The Stooges - Raw Power

Iggy's torturous, red-lined remix puts the claws, violence, and danger back in grooves first cut in '73 (and supposedly botched in David Bowie's far more tame--and somewhat more listenable--original mix). Result: Sublime Motor City mayhem. -- Jeff Bateman Album Description: Limited edition reissue, in a digipak, of the band's historic 1973 album. The booklet features extensive sleeve notes, including an interview with Iggy. Eight tracks, including 'Search And Destroy', 'Penetration' and 'Raw Power'.

Misfits - Misfits

This album is known sometimes as Collection 1 or the self-titled Misfits punk collection CD. THis is a perfect introduction for new fans to this legendary and influential punk band. Featuring previously unreleased versions of some of their most well known material like "She", "Hollywood Babylon", "Horror Business", "Teenagers From Mars", "I Turned Into a Martian", "Astro Zombies", "Mommy Can I Go Out and Kill Tonight?", "Die, Die My Darling", "Earth A.D.", "Devilock", and "Green Hell."

How about a little Rock and Fucking Roll?

Please Kill Me
by Legs McNeil, Gillian McCain

Though Britain's notorious Sex Pistols shoved punk rock into the face of mainstream America, the movement was already brewing in the U.S. in the 1960s with bands like the Velvet Underground and Iggy and the Stooges. Through hundreds of interviews with forgotten bands as well as the ones that made names for themselves--including Blondie and the Ramones--Legs McNeil and Gillian McCain chronicle punk rock history through the people who really lived it. Please Kill Me is a thrash down memory lane for those hip to punk's early years and an enlightening history lesson for youngsters interested in the origins of modern "alternative" music.

Lobotomy
by Dee Dee Ramone, Veronica Kofman, Legs McNeil

Lobotomy is a lurid and unlikely temperance tract from the underbelly of rock 'n' roll. Taking readers on a wild rollercoaster ride from his crazy childhood in Berlin and Munich to his lonely methadone-soaked stay at a cheap hotel in Earl's Court and newfound peace on the straight and narrow, Dee Dee Ramone catapults readers into the raw world of sex, addiction, and two-minute songs. It isn't pretty. With the velocity of a Ramones song, Lobotomy rockets from nights at CBGB's to the breakup of the Ramones' happy family with an unrelenting backbeat of hate and squalor: his girlfriend ODs; drug buddy Johnny Thunders steals his ode to heroin, "Chinese Rock"; Sid Vicious shoots up using toilet water; and a pistol-wielding Phil Spector holds the band hostage in Beverly Hills. Hey! Ho! Let's go!
